From New Orleans at least.
Three and a half years after Katrina, the remaining National Guard troops will be pulling out of New Orleans.
With a newly formed police force being tasked more with responsibility, the cost was the final decision to pull the troops out. They have been responding to car accidents, homicides, domestic disputes, and just about any other call a police officer would go to. Their primary responsibility was to protect areas that were trying to rebuild.
"People would put the things to rebuild in their houses and thieves would come along and take them right out again. We stopped a lot of that."
