Delta 6 Accelerator Suit
I knew this was going to go viral... unfortunately. So now here is the obligatory post of the worst viral video I have ever seen. If the animation is any suggestion of what the upcoming movie is like, then good luck with that.
This movie has looked awful from the get go. Sure I think it will be packed with action and a lot of special effects, and maybe a good story, but the only thing even related to G.I. Joe would be the names. This Delta 6 Accelerator Suit looks like the worst addition to any movie ever... even RoboCop. They have taken a show that defined the characters by what they were wearing and how they did it un-enhanced, and turned it into some SciFi ...Delta 6 Accelerator Suit. Need I say more.

Omaha Police Chase
This is one of my favorite police chases. Not only because of the fact it happened in my home town, but probably just the action in the video. The suspect shoots a sawed of shotgun through the back window at the cops at about the 3 minute mark. That is about the turning point from maybe we should back off, to we are going to get this guy! And they do. Good work Omaha!

Okay, so now Facebook is not safe ... was it ever? Here is a little story about a guy named Dan. Well, Facebook takes the pictures of your friends to try and sell you useless crap. Apparently this is an ad that Dan received with a picture of his wife attached to it.

Privacy
These days privacy is a hard thing to come by. In fact your cell phone records are accessible and there are tons of numbers, and records with personal information available, either free or paid for.
I really like this guys approach at getting the attention of Verizon's CEO. I love the "can you hear me now" bit this guy does.

Roller coasters
Okay, so I am a roller coaster junkie, in a big way! But I think if I were to take on something like this, I would have to have quite a bit of liquid courage before I tried it. Ah, those wacky Germans!

Dirk Auer, pictured above, is an extreme inline skater who already holds the world speed record for skating, achieving a top speed of 190mph while being dragged behind a Porsche GT2. So how does one top such an accomplishment? Well by designing a special pair of inline skates that allow you to ride a wooden roller coaster of course! This stunt, which took place on the Mammoth roller coaster at the Trips Drill theme park in Stuttgart, took 2 months to plan including 110 hours making the custom inline skates. But the ride itself took just over a minute with Auer reaching a top speed of 56mph after the first 30 meter drop.
And I would totally call shenanigans on these photos were it not for this news report with footage of Dirk actually racing around the coaster. -OhGizmo

Tata Motors

Okay so the $2,500 Tata Nano is now starting its initial sales in Mumbai. All I have to say is this car is a matchbox. I couldn't even imagine who would come out on top in a collision with a Smart Car but I'm betting on the Smart Car.
I couldn't imagine this thing on Americas roads, but I do wonder when GM will give to there new owners and start mass producing a roller skate like this.

Happy Anniversary

Forty years ago we (The United States) put men on the moon. Seems like an unbelievable feet these days. Imagine the progress that could have been made had we stuck with this monumental accomplishment for mankind.

On July 16th, 1969 Mission Commander Neil Alden Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. shot from earth in the Apollo module headed to the moon.
On this day July 20, 1968 Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the moon.

Boston.com is running a special of 40 pictures to commemorate the anniversary, be sure to check them out.

Close Qarters Combat
Okay so getting locked up in a bar room brawl doesn't happen all that often. But if it does get down to old fashion street fighting there are some good techniques (often involving leverage) that are effective to use.
Best defense I have ever used or even seen used is a brain. If you have one of those tools, you can do a lot to avoid such situations.

Just ask Hillary Clinton. Apparently the reason the Firefox is not used at the State Department is, it is too expensive??
Her speech is very exasperating... very political. If you say enough you will lose the audience.

Omaha and Gun Control
This is something to get worried about. I commented about this bill in Omaha that would require fingerprinting individuals that sell guns to stores like Scheels.
Earlier this week, the Omaha City Council approved an ordinance that would require individuals who wish to sell firearms to "secondhand stores," such as Scheels, Guns Unlimited, and other places (which are not pawnbrokers), be fingerprinted before the transaction can occur. The ordinance would also require store owners to keep these fingerprints on record and authorizes law enforcement to inspect those records without notice or warrant. The approved ordinance now heads to the desk of Mayor Jim Suttle (D) for his consideration.
If enacted, this could lead to future ordinances requiring fingerprinting for all firearm transactions.
Please contact Mayor Suttle TODAY and respectfully urge him to veto this ordinance. The Mayor can be reached by phone at (402) 444-5000 or visit http://www.co.douglas.ne.us/omaha/mayor/contact-us to send email. Also, please contact the members of the City Council who voted for the ordinance and respectfully voice your disapproval with their passage of this attack on our Second Amendment freedoms. Blog Anniversary

Okay, so I have been working on this blog for an entire year (even though my first official post was January). It took a while to get rolling but here it is. After 253 posts it has become a pretty good hobby. I figure most of the stuff I'm reading about anyway. Might as well have it to read in this one handy location.
For the loyal readers out there I will try to mix stuff up to keep it interesting, for those that are passing though, thanks. I'll see if I can keep up the good work attracting new viewers but the best way to spread is word of mouth.
Thanks for watching!
July last year my first post read "Test" Hardly worthy of keeping it around.

But that still desn't really answer the question about this picture.... does it?
I can only imagine what the caption could read here. Any thoughts?

What would Bill Clinton do?

Wow, I Never...
It isn't often that we see a lefty writer go soft on Bush bashing, but I have manged to find one. From Ted Rall "Sorry, Mr. Bush." That is the title. Among some of the statements that are in this piece should be something everyone sees.
"Bush was the biggest spender in history, running up a $1.8 trillion deficit with wasteful wars and tax cuts. But next to Obama, Bush was a tightwad. Glamour Prez hasn't been around six months, yet the Congressional Budget Office reports that he already has quadrupled the deficit by an extra $8.1 trillion. "The total debt held by the public [will] rise from 57 percent of GDP in 2009 to 82 percent (!) of GDP in 2019," reports U.S. News & World Report.
Obama is sinking us into financial oblivion 72 times faster than Bush."
And another that is good to see:
"Obama has done more damage than Bush. And no one's stopping him. Which makes him worse.
Sorry, Mr. Bush. If I'd known what was coming, I would've been nicer."
Bush did a lot to piss off Conservatives no doubt! There are many things that I would have been happy to see change. But we have had 8 years of no terrorism on our side of the pond. Unfortunately it came at a cost in money and lives. But the way the money is being spent now has nothing to do with National Defense. Its a refund for everyone that paid to get this guy elected. This is one writer that is starting to see what this "window dressing" of a President is fully capable of.

The SCAR
From Ammoland:
Mc Lean, Virginia - -(AmmoLand.com)-FN Tactical Sub-machine Guns, FN SCAR-16s – The SCAR Rifle System achieves complete ergonomic compatibility along with 99% parts commonality between platforms in the same caliber.
The SCAR enhances individual officer effectiveness and simplifies mission capabilities, logistic support, reduces training time and minimizes armorer service downtime.
The SCAR’s free floating barrels are quickly interchangeable by loosening six captive screws. All major windage and elevation adjustments are made at the permanently-attached front sight.
Both US Government and manufacturer’s testing prove that when a SCAR barrel is removed and then reinstalled, it will return within one minute of angle (1 MOA) to the previously established zero.
Porsche 911 GT2 vs. Corvette ZR1
I like the Corvette and always will. Even though the parent company (Government Motors) is owned by ... me. I think the days of the affordable sports car is coming to an end once our cars start looking like Euro-mobiles. Anyway..
Then Vette has just had a long heritage and for the price, it is the only sportscar that has a trunk and can compete against the likes of the Dodge Viper and the Porsche 911.
So even though the Corvette has been beat out by the Porsche for years, I still like it as a better car. This match-up is a pretty good assessment of the two, but again, I think it all depends on conditions. One tenth of a second means the world in racing.. but if I had a ZR-1, I wouldn't worry too much about the extra .1 in my time.

FNH M3M Machine Gun
Now I have never actually seen a barrel melt, I've seen them glow read, but not melt. I am thinking that this .50 cal could melt the barrel if you put enough rounds through it. It fires 1,100 Rounds Per Minute.
The GAU-21 .50 caliber weapon system includes: a pintle mounted .50 caliber machine gun with an open bolt design, the capability to use 100, 300 or 600 round ammunition cans, the capability to fire all standard NATO .50 caliber ammunition, the ability to maintain or increase the available fields of fire for each airframe, and the capability for dismounted operation by one person within two minutes.

Bugatti Veyron and McLaren F1
I have been a huge fan of the McLaren F1 since the very first rumors of this car came out around 1991. Designed and conceived from Formula One this car was the first production car to reach speeds of 240.1.
The features that I remember from the unveiling were the fact that it had three seats with the driver in the middle of the center of gravity, a gold foil liner for the engine to protect the cab from heat, and the V-12 BMW engine. Now there are many design facets that exist today that still make it look more modern that some of its competitors, but the neat thing about them is they are all functional in the overall design of the car.
Now the Bugatti is also a very attractive car and it out performs the base McLaren. But I think I still would want to get the McLaren just because it was the first Supercar that I really paid any attention to.

Retail: $1,650,000
McLaren F1

Retail: $890,000
And if you mistreat any of these exotics...

I know exactly how this situation falls out... all to well sometimes. But even the guy that is having the problem gives a better description than what usually happens.
On a normal day you get the:
"Well there was a box that was telling me to do something."
"What did this box say?"
"Well I don't know, I closed it" ...
"What were you doing to get the box?"
"I don't know, I was just working like I normally do and then the box showed up. Now nothing is working right."

Government Health Care
Here is Government health care at work.
Now let me start the story by saying this is about a man, that worked for the government, in the military. He got wounded, and had been in the hospital for treatment for decades. Well the man died. The bill for 300,000 dollars went to his next of kin. But wait, this man was covered under Government Health Care... What country did this happen... wait for it ... right here in the USA, Iowa to be exact.
I have said for the longest time, that if someone wants to see government health care in the works just visit any VA hospital. They are pretty scary places if you have never been. And the treatments there are meant just to get you up and going again. all the cosmetic stuff, not needed, extra tests, not needed. So when they talk about this ObamaCare like it is the best thing since sliced bread... Think again!

F-150 Jet, or something
Okay, so you take a practical vehicle, and you make it entirely impracticable for the purpose of your own amusement?
What is the exact end game with this project? I'm not so sure street racing is in it, because really who is going to compete with a jet engine. I don't see a lot of sponser stickers on the side so I am guessing he doesn't race this on a drag strip. Oh well, for what ever reason, here's to you ... guy with the jet powered F-150.

Google vs. Bing
We have become a Google society, and the word has taken on a life of its own. I would doubt people will start saying, "oh yeah, I just Binged that." It just sounds better to say that you Googled something.
Poor Microsoft, I think they would have stood a better chance if they had a decent search engine in the market a long time ago. Bing will have a rocky road to acceptance. On a side note, Bing does make for a good alternate search engine to Google. Sounds a lot like the Zune fighting Apple, doesn't it?
I think this video link pretty much sums up what I'm Googling here.

WHAT A TOOL!!!
I came across this article and had a WTF moment.
Now as the story goes, this guy in Australia is involved with one of those Online worlds (I'm not going to be specific because I don't know a thing about them or how they work. From what I have read they are like SIMS... correct me if I'm wrong).
Anyway, people pay $15 a month to play on this thing and can gain "credits" through working and some other weird stuff. Well, this guys character was the head of some EBank and he took virtual money from this bank 200 billion to be specific. He took his credits and went offline to sell his fake money for real money... I know it gets better though.
So he sells this fake cash for real cash. $5100 to be exact. The people buying the fake money are people that don't want to play the game to earn these credits.
Here is where the fun starts and I'm going to quote the article here:
"He said a spam email for a black market website that traded online money for real cash popped up on his screen, prompting him to exchange the virtual cash for real money to cover a deposit on his house and expenses related to his son's medical problems."
Okay, why are you spending so much time playing a game when you have a son with MEDICAL PROBLEMS and a deposit on your house?
I don't understand what makes some people tick.

Justifiable Homicide
Did the title get your attention? Well, when someone is breaking into your home, and you warn them to stay out, justified.
This is a story that really explains itself, but when you call 911, cops don't just fall from the sky. It takes time for them to show up, and I think I would rather have to explain to the officer why I put a round, or 2 or 3, into a home invader, than have them call CSI to come and examine what happened to my family.

This has to be one of the top car crashes I have ever seen in racing. Conditions are bad enough in the rain but hydroplaning is much much worse. It is amazing no one was killed but I would think the drivers have some lasting scars.
